Zelda Ward Evans

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Zelda Mae Ward Evans, 84, of Glen White, WV died on Thursday, June 11, 2009 during surgery at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born December 11, 1924 at Grandview, WV she was the daughter of the late Ben and Zelia Ewing Whiting. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Harless Ward; second husband, Leroy Evans; two sons, Denvil and Ronald Ward; five brothers, Benny, James, Roy, Emerson and Talmadgge Whiting and a sister, Catherine Whiting Pack. Survivors include Left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Sharon, wife of Charles Chiao of Mahanoy City, PA; three sons, Ralph Ward and wife, Janet of Crab Orchard, Donnie Ward and wife, Wilma of Ghent and Richard Ward of Glen White; sister, Agnes wife of Steve Hurley of Piqua, OH; sister-in-law, Pat Whiting of Pleasant Hills, OH; seven grandsons, seven granddaughters, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Mike Pozega officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity.
