Woodrow W. Ayers, Jr. , 79, of Clearwater, FL died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Brookside Hospice House in Palm Harbor, FL. Born November 27, 1932 at Prudence, WV he was the son of the late Woodrow W. Ayers, Sr. and Elsie M. Criss Ayers. Mr. Ayers moved to Clearwater in 1992 from Cleveland, OH. He was a driver for United Parcel Service and a member of the Teamster's Union. He was a Methodist. He enjoyed golf and watching the sunset at the Dunedin Pier and also spending time with his grandchildren. Woodrow was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War Conflict 1950-1954. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gisele in 2007 and a granddaughter, Kelly Ayers. Survivors include sons, Jean-Paul Ayers and wife, Elaine, George Ayers and wife, Dottie, and Patrick Ayers, brothers, Glen Owen Ayers of Norfolk, VA and Carl Ayers of Pinebluff, WY, sister, Eileen Suttle of Ravenna, OH, and three grandchildren, George Ayers, Jr., Nicole Marie Ayers and Brett Ayers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Woodrow's memory can be made to Brookside Hospice House, 164 West Lake Road, Tampa, FL 34684.
