Willis E. Wingrove

Willis Edward Wingrove, 80, of Long Branch, WV died on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at his home following a long illness. Born January 01, 1925 at Long Branch, WV he was the son of the late Gilbert and Nina Dotson Wingrove. He was coal miner having retired from Westmoreland Coal Company, No. 6 Mine at Eccles, WV in 1980. Mr. Wingrove was a World War II US Army vetern having served in Battery C, 616 Field Artillery Battalion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Stone Wingrove on June 20, 2001; son, Willis Edward Wingrove, Jr., granddaughter, Melody Lane Bailey and a sister, Josephine Brown. Survivors include one son, Gary Wingrove and wife, Sandra, of Long Branch, WV; four daughters, Sharon Key and husband, Tom, of Middleburg, FL, Geneva Bailey of Long Branch, WV, Sherry Abshire of Long Branch, WV and Vanessa Haddock of Starke, FL; two sisters, Aileen Hunter of Bourbon, MO and Virginia Brown of Grants, MN; a special friend, Madge Pritt of Lively, WV; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia and to Peggy Parker, a family friend. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, WV on Sunday, August 21, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Monday, August 22, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Michael Kessinger officiating. Burial will be at Dock Lively Cemetery, Long Branch WV.
