William Wooddell

July 30, 1924 — November 11, 2004

William Craig Wooddell, 80, of Bradley, WV passed away in his sleep at 3:15 am on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at his home. Born July 30, 1924 at Mount Hope, WV he was the son of the late Clive G. and Margaret Chapman Wooddell. Mr. Wooddell attended the First Assembly of God, Mount Hope, WV, faithfully and the Honor-Bound Men's Group. He was a disabled coal miner for New River Company and American Coal Company in Powhatan Point, OH. He also worked several years as a toll collector for the WV Turnpike. Mr. Wooddell loved hunting, camping and trout fishing and holding his new great granddaughter, Hailey. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Horsely and Shirley Keffer; and a brother who died in childhood, Bobby. Survivors include wife of 58 years, Irma Bennett Wooddell; daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Kessinger of Mount Hope and Pamela (John) Cooper of Cool Ridge; three granddaughters, Christina Lester of Mount Hope, Heather (Glen) Clarkson of White Oak and Larissa (Shane) Brinegar of Cool Ridge; great granddaughter, Hailey Brinegar of Cool Ridge; sisters, Drema Wooddell of Baltimore, MD and Peggy Summerfield of Calhoun, GA; special cousin, June Ramsey of Southgate, MI; special great uncle, Dick Whiting of Asheville, NC; brother-in-law, Burford Keffer of Baltimore, mD; sister-in-law, Geneva Welch of Mount Hope and by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Saturday, November 13, 2004, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Services will be on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 2:30 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Jessie Parker officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
