William R. "Sid" Sydnor

William "Sid" R. Sydnor, 77, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, March 21, 2005 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, WV following a short illness. Born August 06, 1927 at Gatewood, WV he was the son of the late George Henry and Lelia K. Smith Sydnor. He was a semi-retired insurance agent. Sid was a member of the First Church of God, Fayetteville, WV. He served in the US Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tec 5. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maxine Thomas Sydnor; one son, Ralph Richard "Pud" Sydnor or Oak Hill; one brother, George Sydnor of Fayetteville and one sister, Margaret Christian of Beckley. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Thursday, March 24, 2005, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Bob Coulter and Rev. Robert Mattox officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill, WV. Friends will serve as pallbearers.
