William Edward "Bill" Menefee, Jr., 78, formerly of Oak Hill, WV went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2013 at Hopewell, Virginia. Born December 9, 1934 at Crown Hill, WV Bill was the son of the late William Edward Menefee, Sr. and Hazel Haymaker Menefee. His is preceded in death by his son, James Edward "Jim" Menefee of Covington, Virginia and grandson, William Matthew "Matt" Saye, of Prince George, Virginia. Bill leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Rebecca "Becky" Owens Menefee , a son, William J. Rainey and wife Caroline of Charleston, a daughter, Betty J. Saye of Petersburg, VA, son-in-law, William Jay Saye of Oak Hill, daughter in law Michelle Menefee of Covington, VA; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Saye of Petersburg, VA, Brendan Rainey of Charleston, and Kate Rainey of Charleston He is also survived by sisters, JoAnn Kessler of Fayetteville, Mary Pearson of Oak Hill, Wilma Gelfeld and husband, Paul of Gaithersburg, MD, Peggy Greene and husband, Carson of Indiana, PA, and Nancy Smith of Oak Hill, and two brothers John Menefee of Oak Hill, and Paul "Jackie" Menefee of Oak Hill, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A 1954 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill he was also a graduate of Beckley College with an associate degree in Education. Bill was the former pastor of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Hill for 43 years. During that time he was actively involved in the Fayette Plateau Ministerial Association and held various offices for several years. Bill was happiest when serving God and helping others. Bill served Fayette County and surrounding areas preaching God's word and caring for people. He loved spending time with his family, his church family, watching football and enjoying his grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Hill on Friday evening, August 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services held at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial Will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with Rev. Robert "Bobby" Pauley and Rev. Pete Lokant officiating.
