William Edgar Hurt, 79, of Glen Jean, WV passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
Born August 5, 1937 at Stanaford, WV he was the son of the late Alfred and Opal Williams Hurt.
William was a US Marine Corps veteran. He retired from the Fayette County Board of Education maintenance crew with thirty-two years service and was a member of the Glen Jean Union Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Janet Jones Hurt; four sons, William Edgar (Kimberley) Hurt, Jr., Mark Alan (Connie) Hurt, Mike Wayne (Carol Treadway-Hurt) Hurt, and Lloyd Anthony “Pete” Hurt; eleven grandchildren, Amanda Rutledge, Tiffany Greenberg, Andrea Humphrey, Christina Hurt, Justin Hurt, Erica Hurt, Nathan Hurt, Logan Hurt, Ian Hurt, Emma Hurt, and Bella Hurt; five step grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tolley, Garron Tolley, Adrianna Tolley, Matt Evans, and Eva Evans; five great grandchildren, Alexis Rutledge, Chasity Humphrey, Haven Humphrey, Teagan Macey, and Dalton Hinkle; seven brothers, and sisters; Alfred Hurt, Jr., Joan Davis, Frank Hurt, Elizabeth Toombs, Donna Brock, Rosemary Hertzler, and Roger Hurt, and one special friend, Nelsie Ferri.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope.
Funeral service will be 1: 00 pm Monday, June 26, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
Family an friends will serve as pallbearers.
