After a long illness, CMSGT William F. Hinds, (USAF Retired) 96, of Beckley, WV went to be with his beloved wife, Caroline on Monday, March 08, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley where he had been a long-time resident. Born November 26, 1913 at Plattsburg, NY he was the son of the late William F. and Ellen Montville Hinds. Mr. Hinds retired from the US Air Force having served in World War II, Korea & Vietnam and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Life Member of the DAV. He was also retired from the Veterans Administration, Washington, D.C He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Allen Hinds and his son-in-law, Robert F. Bryant, Sr. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Lee Bryant of Oak Hill; two grandchildren, Michelle R. Scarbro and husband, Kenneth of Beckley and MSGT Robert F. Bryant, Jr. (USAF Retired) of Maryland; two great grandchildren, Joshua D. Scarbro of Beckley and Dawn M. Dick and husband, Jimmy of Chesapeake, VA; four great-great grandsons, Joshua Ring, C.J. Dick, Jake Feldman and Jameson Dick all of Chesapeake and several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Grove Christian Church in Beckley with Rick Absher officiating. Members of the Oak Hill VFW Post #3110 will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial with full military honors will be at the Branford Center Cemetery in Branford, CT at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
