William T. "Billy" Williams

August 12, 1932 — June 19, 2014

William Thomas "Billy" Williams , 81, of Pax, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home. Born August 12, 1932 at Long Branch, WV he was the son of the late Carlos Abraham and Grace Akers Williams. Billy was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served aboard the USS Beatty DD756 Naval destroyer. He was a retired coal miner having been last employed by Consol Coal - Workman's Creek operation. Most importantly he was a teacher at Long Branch United Methodist Church for just shy of 45 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bowers Hospice House nurses, Tracey and staff - tons of thanks for your care and concern in his peaceful passing. And thanks to the Corner Gas and Grill of Pax. His wife, Ida Faye; son Matthew; and his siblings, Carlos, Jr. , Jewell and Patty all preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Carlos (the last surviving member of the immediate family) and his wife, Clara of Pax; daughter-in-law, Connie of Pax; grandchildren, Kelly and husband, Travis of Burnsville, Matthew of Belleview, FL, Ashley and husband, Royal of Pax, Brittany of Pax and Chelsea and husband, Travis of Pax; and great grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Gavin, Noah, Cameron and Trey. He is also survived by cousins, MaryLou and husband, Tom, Nancy and husband, Chester, Judy and husband, Robert and Tim and wife, Shannon; special children, Kim, Kevin, Willow, Creed and Madison as well as many special friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastor Mervin Sizemore officiating. Burial will be at Pax Community Cemetery with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
