Willard Lafferty

January 24, 1917 — January 21, 2006

Willard Lafferty, 88, of Mount Hope, WV was promoted to glory on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Born January 24, 1917 at Willis Branch, WV he was the son of the late Charles L. and Bessie Jane Phillips Lafferty. He was a faithful servant of Christ beginning September 29, 1953 and an active member of the Cranberry Baptist Church. His loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen Angle Lafferty; his beloved mother-in-law, Fannie Angle; a grandson, Roger Warren Lafferty and three sisters preceded him in death. Willard inspired and touched the lives of many people. He was a retired coal miner and retired manager for Aides Department Store of Oak Hill. He was a 1934 graduate of Pax High School. Those left to cherish his memory are one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jackie Lafferty; one daughter and son-in-law, Roena and Jim Martin; his twin sister, Willow Quasada and another sister, Pansy Tyree; four grandchildren, Cheri Hill and husband, Mark; Robert Martin and wife, Denise; Todd Lafferty and wife, Cindy and Jessica Lafferty; five great grandchildren, James Hill and wife, Samantha; Jason Martin and wife, Stephanie; Brandon Hill; Sean Martin and Sierrah Martin; one great-great grandchild, Justin. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. A service to celebrate his life will be on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at 12:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Pastor Roger Pauley and Pastor Robert Barley officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cranberry Baptist Church Mission Fund, PO Box 2901, Beckley, WV 25802
