Wilda Louise Tyree

Wilda Louise Meadows Tyree of Pax, WV died on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a short illness. Born on March 7, 1928 at East Kingston, WV she was the daughter of the late Don and Bessie Coots Meadows. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and canning, sewing and decorating her home.

 Mrs. Tyree was a member of Long Branch Methodist Church, Long Branch, WV where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and held various committee positions over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Alfred G. Tyree , sister Betty Meadows Potter, brothers-in-law Webster Wriston, Paul Potter and Roy Dolinger and son-in-law W. Dale Hoke.

Survivors include son, David L. Tyree of Pax; daughter, Jo Lynn Tyree Hoke of Oak Hill; sisters Wanda Wriston of Oak Hill, Mary Dolinger of Creedmoor, NC and Loretta (James) Holley of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Cynthia Tyree of Knoxville, TN and Elizabeth Tyree of Pax; great-grandchildren, Kathryn Smith (Hunter) of Pax and Nathan Yurkovich of Beckley; great-great-grandchildren Oliver Lee and Lily Emma Smith of Pax and an extended family.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity with Rev. Jack Helton and Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV.
