Waymon Dale Smith

Waymon Dale Smith, 39, of Wellston, Ohio, formerly of Ingram Branch and Kincaid,WV passed away at his home Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from complications of injuries he received when his house was destroyed by fire on February 16, 2006. Dale had third degree burns over fifty percent of his upper body. He spent seven weeks at Ohio State University I C U and another two weeks in the burn center and rehabilitation. He enjoyed being home from the hospital for two weeks. He attended Oak Hill High School and joined the National Guard where he finished school. While in the service, he was sent to Honduras twice. He was employed by Total, Inc. in Athens, Ohio. He was of the Methodist faith. Dale loved to hunt, fish, play his guitar, and hear about family history. Born in Montgomery, August 22, 1966 he was the son of Roger Dale Smith of Summersville, WV and the late Sandra Kay Maxwell Smith. His grandparents, Andrew Jasper Smith and Willie McCormick Smith , Henry Clay Maxwell and Florence Coleman Maxwell preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are is wife, Kathy Bryant Smith, and two sons, Waymon Dale Smith, Jr. and Noah Smith, all at home, his father, Roger Dale Smith of Summersville and Mama Schirl Spinks of Summersville; four very special uncles, James and Lenard Smith of Kincaid, David Maxwell of Ironton, Ohio, and Barry Maxwell of Columbus, Ohio; four very special aunts, Elsie Smith Hughes of New London, Ohio, Dolly Smith Keffer of Coal City, Leona Smith Dye of Spencer and his very dear Aunt Pat Smith Manning, with whom he lived after the passing of his mother; and a host of very close cousins and friends. Any monetary contributions for Dale's wife and two sons can be made at the viewing. Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with the Rev. Alfred Havens officiating. Burial will follow at Kincaid Cemetery, Kincaid. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
