Wanda Mae Rierson Collins

Wanda Mae Rierson Collins, 78, of Prosperity, WV formerly of Mount Hope, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012. She was a resident of Kilsyth and Mount Hope since the age of 11, coming from the Pax area. Born July 2, 1933 at Weirwood, WV, she was the daughter of Dewey and Lena Craddock Rierson. A devoted Christian, she was a member of the Kilsyth Free Will Baptist Church where she had attended since she was 11 years old. Wanda was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, member of the church choir, taught VBS for many years and taught the Primary Class for 18 years. She attended Mount Hope High School and was an avid fan of the Mount Hope Mustangs attending football games until her health declined the last few years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harold E. Collins on November 10, 2001 and her only brother, Carl Rierson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vickie Collins Darnell and her husband, Larry of Prosperity, with whom she had made her home the last year and a half; one granddaughter, Holly Monique Darnell of Prosperity; a brother-in-law, Ray Collins and his wife, Carolyn of Akron, Ohio; a special cousin, Pearl Burgess of Oak Hill; a longtime friend, Helen Bennett Pack of Mount Hope; her loving cat, Callie; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Doug Burdette officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
