Wanda M. Lewis Daley, 99, of Akron, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Born May 18, 1914 at Mount Hope, WV, she was the daughter of the late Albert Henry Lewis and Jennie Mariah Angus Abshire Lewis. After graduating from Mount Hope High School in 1932, she moved to Akron, Ohio where she discovered the Big Band sound of Jimmy Daley and His Orchestra. She and Jim were married in 1933 and had three children who also became professional musicians. Wanda volunteered with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile program in Akron and at the Summit County Home. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Akron, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jennie; her stepfather, James W. Sawyers; beloved husband, James T. Daley; brother, Cecil J. Lewis; sister, Nellie Jane Lewis Smith; half brother, George A. Abshire; two half-sisters, Willie Muriel Adams Hatch and Hazel Dell Goldie. She is survived by her three children, Marilyn and her husband, Dr. Douglas Boldon, James Daley and his wife, Diane, and Nancy Daley;five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, or Summa Hospice.
