Walter Nelson Underwood, Sr. , 61, of Price Hill, WV died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his home. Born October 21, 1948 at Price Hill, WV he was the son of the late Alfred Lee and Julia Hamilton Underwood. He was a disabled coal miner. Mr. Underwood was a member of the Price Hill Freewill Baptist Church where he helped build the Auxiliary Building. Five brothers, Alfred Underwood, Jr., David Underwood, Tom Underwood, Richard Lyle Underwood and Robert Underwood and two sisters, Bobbie Jo Swann and Judy Coots preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Susan Stover Underwood; five sons, Walter Underwood, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Kilsyth, Devon Underwood and wife, Beth of Glen Jean, Kevin Underwood and wife, Jennifer of Mount Hope, Rodney Underwood of Mount Hope and Christopher Underwood and wife, Crystal of Beckley; one brother, Randall Underwood and wife, June of Mount Hope and a sister, Carol Linkous and husband, Bill of Sophia. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Price Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie McNeely, Rev. David Brooks and Rev. Milton Williams officiating. Burial will be at Bradley Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Palllbearers will be Chris Conley, Tony Ayers, Alfred Underwood, Justin Gunnoe, and Benny Todaro. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to Tyree Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
