Violet C. Murdock Bennett of Maple Fork, WV died on Sunday, April 05, 2009 at Heartland of Beckley, WV. She was born August 30, 1915 to the late Clarence M. and Orpha Kirby Murdock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norvel J. Bennett; son-in-law, James Percy Clay; two brothers, Glen and Elwood Murdock and one sister, Ethel Murdock Stines. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Clay of Maple Fork and Janice (John) Bilobeau of Cranford, NJ; one sister, Leuna Williams of Montgomery; one grandson, James and wife, Marguerite Clay of Falling Waters; two granddaughters, Loretta (Daniel) Sofia of Coconut Creek, FL and Jennifer Bilobeau of Eatontown, NJ; six great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker and loved her flowers and to do needlework. She was a cook for several years at the Price Hill Elementary School. She was a charter member of the Bradley Presbyterian Church and life member of the Presbyterian Women. She was very dedicated to her faith and was known as a "Prayer Warrior." She taught Sunday school and kept nursery in the church of many years. She enjoyed working in her church and helping her neighbors. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was truly an inspiration to everyone she knew. In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial donations be made to the Bradley Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Bradley Presbyterian Church in Bradley with Rev. Beth Stone officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, James P. Clay, III, Mitchell Clay, Stephen Urbanski, Andrew Rivera and friends, Eugene Moses and David James. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Tuesday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
