Vernon Ray Tygrett

On the 9th day of November, 1928, Vernon Ray Tygrett came into this world. After a long illness he passed away peacefully on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV.

Born at Kingston, WV into a family of 15, he was the eldest son of the late Malon and Ruby Kincaid Tygrett. He served an honorable term in the US Army where he was an active combat warrior in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he eventually settled in Cincinnati, OH where he met and married Mary Ann Morgan and had all five children.

After retirement, Vernon moved back to where his heart never left - the mountain of West Virginia. He enjoyed farming and living a quiet life.

He was greatly loved and will be enormously missed.

Vernon married Mary Ann Morgan (who preceded him in death) in 1960 and together they had four daughters and one son: Connie Tygrett (Rich) Crone of Mason, OH, Belinda Tygrett, Jonas (Sarah) Tygrett of Cincinnati, OH, Paula Tygrett Harris of Goshen, OH and Olivia Tygrett of Fayetteville. Vernon was also blessed with ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. William McClung officiating. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
