Vernon Wetzel Tipton

Vernon Wetzel Tipton, 67, of Oak Hill, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at Plateau Medical Center following a short illness. Born August 9, 1946 at Minden, WV, he was the son of the late Ernest and Margaret Robinson Cox Tipton. He was a retired coal miner and heavy equipment operator at Kingston Mines. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include his companion, Sharon Arrington; five daughters Theresa Buck and husband William of Oak Hill, Jeanie Marie O'Keese of Ohio, Charlotte Jones and husband John of Fayetteville, Sherry Everett and husband Steve of Oak Hill, Rachel Henderson and husband Larry of Rush Kentucky.; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.; one brother Rennie Tipton; two sisters, Cheryl Pittman and Patricia Mooney, all of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Rev. Larry Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tyree Funeral Home for funeral expenses of Mr. Tipton.
