Verna Aldene Chambers Whipkey

Verna Aldene Chambers Whipkey, age 101, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Fayette Nursing and Rehab Center, Fayetteville, WV.

Born January 31, 1919 in Cameron, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Olivia Neely Chambers.

Verna retired from the Fayette County Board of Education as a cook. Verna enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking their favorite meals. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill, WV.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Whipkey, sons, Lemoyne and Ronald Whipkey and wife Shirley (Flint) Whipkey; son-in-law Howard Parrish; daughter-in-law Linda (Hypes) Whipkey; sisters, Cleo Shriver, Theo McCartney, Ruth Johnson, Maxine Arnold, Thelma Chambers, Vesta Chambers; and brother Earl Chambers.

Surviving are her daughter, Norma Parrish of Oak Hill, WV; son Leonard Whipkey of Hico, WV; daughter-in-law, Naomi Whipkey of Ansted, WV; granddaughters, Terry (Bobby) Franklin, Cathy (Claude) Stump, Cynthia (Rick) Patton; grandsons, Kevin (Judy) Whipkey, Sean (Linda) Whipkey, Tim (Tonya) Whipkey, Charles (Kim) Whipkey, and Heath (Debbie) Whipkey; five great granddaughters and three great grandsons.

Also surviving are sisters, Phyllis (Claude) Bushaw, Banning, CA, and Patty Scott, Cameron, WV; sister-in-law, Imogene Chamber; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM with services to follow at 2:00 PM Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Cameron, WV. Rev. Steven Jumper of the First Christian Church of Cameron, WV will be officiating. She will be laid beside her husband at Highland Cemetery, Cameron, WV.

Verna's Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
