Vera Shumate

Miss Vera Shumate, 99, of Oak Hill, WV went to the hands of the Lord on Tuesday, February 03, 2004 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Hilltop, WV following a long illness. Born December 19, 1904 she was the daughter of the late Nasby Burton "N.B." and Della Daniels Shumate. She was a retired Fayette County Elementary School teacher with 44 years service. She had been a teacher and principal at Lochgelly. Miss Shumate was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilda G. Daniel and brother, Earl Shumate. Survivors include nephews: James Michael Shumate of Norfolk, VA and David Lee Shumate of Florida. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, February 6, 2004, from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Friday, February 6, 2004 at 1:00 pm at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Rev. David White officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
