Ulysses Earl Smith , 90, of Beckley, WV died on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Heartland of Beckley following an extended illness. Born April 16, 1918 at Whittaker, Kanawha County,WV he was the son of the late Frank and Flora Della (Smith) Smith. He grew up in Dothan, WV. Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic for Standard Oil. He also worked in the automobile industry in Detroit for many years. His passion was for cars and fishing. He loved camping and fishing on the Blue Stone River. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Nasser Ryan, Gracie Bennett and Ruby Payne and a brother, Floyd, who died in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include daughter, Hedy June Eckert and husband, Stacy of Lake Helen, FL; four grandsons, John Sibio of Louisville, KY, Michael Sibio of Sunrise, FL, Stephen Sibio of Natchez, MS and Jeffrey Sibio of Tampa, FL; four great grandsons, Zachary and Anthony Sibio of Sunrise, FL, Joshua Sibio of Louisville, KY and Alexander Sibio of Natchez, MS; three great granddaughters, Shawna Sibio of Louisville, KY, Lindsay Sibio of Sunrise, FL and Jessica Sibio of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Rose "Debbie" Durham and husband, Charles of Arlington, VA and Gladys Souk of Mount Hope and two brothers, Estel Wayne Smith of Dothan and Larry Franklin Smith and wife, Gayle of Talcott. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Dothan Community Church. There will be no visitation.
