Ulia Mae Phillips Bowyer, 83, of Maple Fork, WV died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at her home. Born November 21, 1925 at Creston, Ashe County, NC she was the daughter of the late Joseph Robert and Nancy Vannoy Phillips. She was a lifetime member of the Maple Valley Baptist Church, Maple Fork. Mrs. Bowyer was a homemaker. She was also a retired Licensed Practical Nurse having worked for Appalachian Regional Hospital and Raleigh General Hospital as well as ten years for Dr. P. Corro. Her husband, Luther Elbert Bowyer and a son-in-law, Steven Ray Treadway preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Janice Blankenship of Maple Fork, Ruth Ann Treadway of Maple Fork, Nancy Moss and husband, Robert of Sand Branch, Kenneth Bowyer and wife, Sandra of Natalia, TX, Keith "Pete" Bowyer and wife, Tammy of Maple Fork and Debra Voloski and husband, Joe of Maple Fork; two brothers, Joseph D. Phillips and wife, Lee of Maple Fork, Robert L. Phillips of Maple Fork and four sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Reggi and husband, Dwight of Maple Fork, Joan Carol Meccariello of Connecticut, Mary Jane Tolbert and husband, Leslie of Virginia and Marie O. Clements and husband, Lee of Georgia. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Steven R. Treadway and wife, Rebecca, Robert L. Moss and wife, Deanna, David S. Moss and wife, Rinda, Janet L. Wickelhaus, Amy D. Deal and husband, Doug, Jeremy K. Bowyer and wife, Crystal, Rupert L. Blankenship and wife, Tonya, Rebecca E. Stevens and husband, Brandon, Daniel L. Bowyer and wife, Angela, Joseph M. Voloski, II and Philip C. Bowyer and wife, Bethani and eighteen great grandchildren. Services will be on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Maple Valley Baptist Church in Maple Fork with Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Randy Warden officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
