Tommy Simms , 60, of Oak Hill, WV died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born August 31, 1953 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Cornelius Houston and Marjorie Oiler Simms. Tommy Simms was a kind, tender-hearted man. He was a hardworking coal miner having dedicated 35 years to his employment. In his spare time he liked to hunt, fish, watch NASCAR and do woodworking. His former wife, Jane Ann Samuels Simms preceded him in death on Nov 13, 2013.. He is survived by his loving daughters who were the center of his life, Lesley Simms of Fayetteville and Brittney Simms of Fayetteville; and his only grandchild, Brynnlee Jackson of Fayetteville. Tommy is also survived by seven brothers, Larry Simms and wife, Carol of Gatewood, Jimmy Simms and wife, Ann of Hartville, OH, Roger Simms and wife, Carolyn of Whiteland, IN, Michael Simms and wife, Karen of Plum Orchard, Connie Mack Simms and wife, Jennie of Oak Hill, Paul Dean Simms and wife, Bernie of Dale City, VA and Bruce Simms and wife, Jennifer of Oak Hill; and four sisters, Lois O'Daniels of Wilmington, NC, Trenia Christianson of Seattle, WA, Vicki Maynard and husband, Randy of China and Madge Hamilton and companion, Bob Kelly of Cape Coral, FL. He will be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Ernie Francis officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Brothers will serve as pallbearers.
