Thomas Wesley McGuffin, 84, of Oak Hill, WV died on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born April 10, 1920 at Thurmond, WV he was the son of the late Claymus Wesley and Ethel Virginia Samples McGuffin. He was a retired auto mechanic having worked for Fayette Motors and Lawton and Jasper both of Oak Hill. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Ernestine Watters McGuffin; sisters, Joyce Ann McGuffin, Mary Sue Hash, Harriett V. Bishop; brothers, John McGuffin, James Earl McGuffin and Glenn Franklin McGuffin. Survivors include his wife, Ida V. Coffey Davis McGuffin; daughter, Peggy Farmer of Oak Hill; stepdaughter, Kay Wheeler and husband, Larry, of Oak Hill; step son, James T. "J.T." Davis and wife, Paula, of Glen Daniels; brothers, R.C. "Bobby" McGuffin of Oak Hill, Emory Wayne McGuffin of Oak Hll, Ritchie McGuffin of Huntington; sisters, Maggie Anderson of Red Star, Jean Sumner of Grants, NM and Betty Campbell of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Eddie and Tommy Farmer; step grandchildren, Ron Wheeler, Angela Akers and husband, Doug, and Matt Davis; step great granddaughter, Britiny Akers Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Saturday, February 26, 2005, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 1:30 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. Flag folding and presentation will be conducted by US Navy veterans of VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill.
