Thomas S. Gwinn, Sr.

Thomas S. Gwinn Sr., 66, of Hilltop, WV died on Wednesday, March 05, 2008 at his home. Born on March 16, 1941 at Mullens, WV he was the son of the late Ray W. and Della Argentina Lockhart Morgan Gwinn. Mr. Gwinn was a retired engineer for CSX Railway. He was a member of the Davis Camp, Glen Rogers and was a US Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Cherice Gwinn of whom Tommy always said, "When I enter Heaven I'll know exactly what happened to her." Two brothers, Benny Morgan and William Gwinn and a sister, Betsy Pack Gwinn also preceded him. Survivors include one son, Thomas S. Gwinn, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Fayetteville; three brothers, Johnny Gwinn of Front Royal, VA, Jack Gwinn and wife, Kathy of Mount Hope and Steve Gwinn of Huntington; three sisters, Alice Cozart of Beckley, Patty Miller and husband, Gerald of Harper Heights and Mamie Swiger and husband, Steve of Poway, CA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Nash Gwinn and Reed Gwinn of Fayetteville. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:15 A.M. at Hilltop Cemetery with Pastor Ronald Sears officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post #3110 of Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
