Thelma Armstrong

On Wednesday, October 21, 2009 Thelma Baber Armstrong, 86, of Mount Hope, WV went to be with her husband of 63 years at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV following an extended illness. Born January 23, 1923 at Acme, WV she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Griffy Baber. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph Robert “Bob” Armstrong on September 14, 2002 as well as a daughter, Glenda Sloan and one son, Darrell Armstrong, preceded her in death. Survivors include five sons, Ronald Armstrong of Mount Hope, Thomas Armstrong of Mount Hope, Steven Armstrong of Glen Jean, Jesse Armstrong of Mount Hope and Lake Armstrong of Dalton, GA; three daughters, Patricia Armstrong of Scarbro, Loretta Stover of Oak Hill and Mary Katherine Bishop, Fort Oglethorpe, GA; one brother, Charles Baber of Oak Hill and two sisters, Lucille Pannell of Gatewood and Nina Pruitt of Pennsylvania. A son-in-law, Bob Sloan of Oak Hill, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren also survive her. Services will be on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with Rev. Carl Burrows officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, WV. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
