Sylvia Gaye Boyd Young ,84, of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, September 06, 2012 at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop, WV. Born October 15, 1927 at Kingston, WV she was the daughter of the late Jesse Claude and Mary Lucy Whitlock Boyd. Mrs. Young was a member of the Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, Oak Hill and a homemaker. Her favorite pastimes were reading, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Ray Eugene Young and sisters, Ida McKinney, Goldie Cooper, Marie Burgess and Lena "Mickey" Whitt preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Rutledge and son-in-law Rick Rutledge of Scarbro; granddaughter and spouse, Rosemary and Eric Miller of Cincinnati. Ohio, grandson and spouse, Alex and Amanda Rutledge of Greensboro, NC; grandson and spouse, Andrew Rutledge and Greg Millikin of Alexandria, VA; brothers, James Roy Boyd of Summersville, WV and Freel Boyd of Oak Hill, WV; great grandchildren, Alexis Sky Rutledge , Nathaniel Boyd Miller and Lucas Benjamin Miller and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. A memorial service will be on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Oak Hill with her son-in-law Rev. Rick Rutledge and Rev. Roy Gene Crist officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 345 Kelly Avenue, Oak Hill WV 25901.
