Steven Allen "Stevie" Crisp

May 25, 1964 — March 30, 2012

Steven Allen "Stevie" Crisp, 47, of Fayetteville, WV, formerly of Oak Hill, passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on March 27, 2012 following a short illness. Stevie was born in Charleston on May 25, 1964 to Edward and Frances Crisp. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger, and loving uncle "Big Jess" and aunt Theresa Bane. Stevie, born with Down's Syndrome, lived his life as an angel on earth touching the lives of everyone who crossed his path. His kind and gentle nature taught us all the lessons of unconditional love. Throughout his life, Stevie relied on the care and support of family and friends, and none so much as his life-long caregiver and cousin, Jesse Bane III. Stevie lived out his life with Jesse, his wife Leigh, and their son Andrew Jesse. Stevie is also survived by compassionate cousin, Mrs. Betty Arcudia of Oak Hill, numerous other cousins, the extended family of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shively of Pennsylvania, friend and caregiver Ms. Teresa Cox of Oak Hill, and brother James Crisp, his wife JoAnn and son Tyler of Virginia. Stevie enjoyed many years as part of the family businesses, Jess & Theresa's Place, Jesse's Pub, and The Coffee Club. The employees of the businesses were an important part of Stevie's life and he was loved by the patrons as well. The family's businesses always gave Stevie a comfortable place to belong and build friendships. Stevie lived his life with the simplicity of a child. He enjoyed having two hot dogs with Linda, shopping, swimming and eating Blizzards with Teresa, drinking a diet coke at the Owl's Club with Big Jess, singing karaoke at Jesse's Pub, camping with Jess and Theresa, going out to eat with his family, eating ice cream before bed with AJ and Jesse, and sorting through his prize DVD collection. His favorite saying summed it all up; "I like to sing, I like to eat, I like to dance." Stevie will always be remembered for his child-like innocence, beautiful smile, eagerness to please others, silly teasing nature, and his approving "thumbs up" with a wink. Just days before his death, surrounded by friends, enjoying a BigMac and watching the Munsters. Stevie announced, "I'm a happy boy!" The family wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the Oncology staff at CAMC and Hospice of Southern WV for their care and compassion, the employees of Jesse's and The Coffee Club for their years of kindness and love for Stevie, and all our friends and family for their support during a very difficult loss. A special thank you to Teresa Cox and her family for their friendships, love, support, and loyalty to Stevie and our family. The family requests that any memorial donations be sent to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or School, Hospice of Southern West Virginia or the Down's Syndrome Foundation in memory of Stevie.
