Sterling R. Wright

Sterling R. Wright, 73, of Pax, WV died on February 7, 2008 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV after a brief illness. He was born on March 13, 1934 in Jordan Mines, VA, to the late Elmer and Berta Wright. Raised in Pax, he lived in Akron, Ohio over 40 years, returning to his childhood home in retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ersil, Merrill, and Denton Wright and sisters, Berta Wright and Evelyn Wright. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara of Norton, OH; daughters, Debra of Pax and Susan of Norton, OH; sons, Ernie (Cookie) of Clifton Forge, VA, David of Norton, OH, Daniel of Pax and Steven (Kaci) of Medina, OH; sisters, Reba Callaway of Pax, Ruby Folvin of New Lebanon, OH and Rachel of Pax; a brother, Earl (Barb) of Vass Branch; and sister-in-law, Madeline also of Pax. He leaves behind six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Wright was employed by Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, Inc. of Akron for 32 years, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 348 in Akron, OH. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 11, 2008 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with Rev. Robert G. Ayers officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Wright Family Cemetery, Packs Branch.
