Stephen J. "Steve" Grzyb, Sr.

Steve Grzyb , 93, of Beaver, WV formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born March 13, 1919 in Lochgelly, WV he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Jarosz Grzyb. Mr. Grzyb was retired from three different employers. He was a US Army veteran who served from World War II thru 1979 at which time he retired with the rank of Major. A tank commander during World War II, he fought in Northern France and Germany. He was a retired mine foreman for the New River Company and a retired electrician for McDowell Wellman. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Walter and Leo and two sisters, Mary and Stephanie. Survivors include two sons, Larry Grzyb of Raleigh, NC and Steve J. Grzyb, Jr. of Eureka, MO; one daughter, Judy Judge of Hilton Head, SC; one brother, Joe Grzyb of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Stella Bosco of Des Plaines, IL and Rosa Kessler of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:15 P.M. at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Chaplain Bryan Knight WVANG officiating and with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Friday from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
