Stephen D. Clay

January 26, 1957 — July 21, 2004

Stephen Dwayne "Steve" Clay, 47, went to walk with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 21, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. He was born January 26,1957 in Fayette County, WV and was preceded in death by his loving and devoted grandparents, Carl and Lesta Clay of Mount Hope. Steve was a member and deacon of the Rock Church Assembly in Kilsyth. He was a carpenter by trade having worked all over southern West Virginia. Steve was a devoted husband and wonderful father. His survivors include a loving wife, Anita Kay Pettry Clay and a beautiful daughter, Rebecca Dawn Clay, both of Oak Hill. Loving mother and father-in-law Billy and Betty Pettry of Mount Hope, brother-in-law Bill Pettry of Mount Hope, and his mother, Ruth Clay Woolard, and her husband, Don, of Louisiana. Also suriving are brothers: Loren Clay and wife, Connie, of Cleveland, OH, and Frank Clay and wife, Debbie, of Jumping Branch; sisters: Vicki Bolen and husband, Mike, of Beckley, Carol Bennett and husband, Bill, of Mount Hope and Lori Woolard Bergeron and husband, Kip, of Louisiana; nephews: Andy and Johnny McGregor of Cleveland, Jeffrey and Carl Clay of Cleveland, Robbie and Jeffrey Bennett of Mount Hope, Jason Bolen of Jumping Branch, Edward Hayes of Florida, Jarrod Clay of North Carolina and Dalton Bergeron of Louisiana nieces: Stacey Bolen Blazer of Mount Hope, Cyrena Clay Mackie of Cleveland, Ohio and Alecia Hayes of Prosperity; great nephews: Andrew, Robert and Brandon McGregor of Cleveland, Ozzy Mackie of Cleveland, Jeffrey, Kevin, Scottie, Austin and Tyler Clay of Cleveland, Josh and Clay Blazer and Jaxon Bennett all of Mount Hope; great nieces: Crystal, Melissa and Erin McGregor of Cleveland, Amy Clay of Cleveland, Kelci Keel Bolen and Raven Bolen of Jumping Branch. Steve will be sadly missed by a host of friends and loved ones. Services will be held at Rock Church Assembly at Kilsyth on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Malina Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2004, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope. Pallbearers will be Bill Pettry, Tommy Smith, Virgil Kincaid, Mark Burnside, Dean Bonifacio and John Legg.
