Stanley "Bub" Smith

Stanley "Bub" David Smith, 55, of Mount Hope, WV died on Monday, December 18, 2006 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born July 12, 1951 at Swandale, WV he was the son of Wanda Paxton Smith Acree of Clay, WV and her husband, Norvel Acree and the late Robert L. Smith . He was a disabled police officer of 20 years having served on the police forces in Gassaway, Gauley Bridge, Mabscott and Mount Hope. Mr. Smith was a US Army veteran having spent two tours in Vietnam. Survivors include wife of 21 yars, Janice Wilburn Smith; two daughters, Tammy Hudson of Mount Hope, WV and Melissa Smith of Gassaway, WV; three sons, Rick Hudson and wife, Jamie of Pax, WV, Danny Duncan and wife, Rebecca of Mount Hope, WV and Melvin Connor of Gassaway, WV; one brother, Johnny Smith of Summersville, WV; three sisters, Sandra "Sis" Ely and husband, John of Front Royal, VA, Emma Nutter and husband, Darrell and Joyce Sigler and husband, Randy all of Summersville, WV; six grandchildren, Brandon Blevins, Derick Hudson, Dylon Hudson, Olivia Duncan, Alexix Duncan and Lucas Duncan and by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Thursday, December 21, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 2:30 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hopewith Pastor Gerald Proctor officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. Palllbearers will be Brandon Blevins, Rick Hudson, Ricky Allen, Matt Wolf, Danny Duncan, Rick Blevins, Doug Adkins with Derick and Dylon Hudson serving as honorary pallbearers.
