Stanley Grand

Stanley J. Grand, 87, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born July 14, 1917 at Arnold City, PA he was the son of the late Frank Grandalski and Violet Grandalski Brey. Stanley was a retired merchant having owned the Smart Shop in Man and Springfield, VA. He had worked at Belk and Lowes both of Beckley and had been a Manager for Hecks in Oak Hill. He was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, WV. He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tech 5. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Rowe Grand to whom he was married 49 years. Survivors include his wife of seven years, Joyce Lester Grand; one brother, Tony Grand of Edgewater, FL; one sister, Virginia Petruchik of Vero Beach, FL; one stepdaughter, Pam Wendell Skaggs and husband, Craig, of Tornado; two stepsons, Phillip Lester of Beckley and William Lester of Summerville, NC; and by one step grandson, five step granddaughters and one step great grandson. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, April 15, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Services will be on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Father John P. McDonough and Rev. Jack Barker officiating. Graveside rites and committal will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
