Stanley Eugene Goff of Oak Hill, WV was promoted to Glory on his 80th birthday, Monday, April 18, 2005 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born April 18, 1925 at Gatewood, WV he was the son of the late Walter and Mabel Lafferty Goff. Mr. Goff was a member of the First Brethren Church, Oak Hill, WV. Stanley was a ham radio operator, call letters K8BDH. The was a World War II US Army veteran having attained the rank of private and was member of VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill. The family would like to express thanks to the VA and PMC staff and his special caregivers for their wonderful care. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae Perkins Goff; one brother, Darrell Goff and a sister, Ernestine Fitzpatrick. Survivors include daughters, Jean Burton and husband, Burl, of Oak Hill and Vicky Lynn Gilbert and husband, Leroy, of Lochgelly; sister, Bessie Cook of Hotchkiss; three grandchildren, Leslie Gilbert of Oak Hill, Daniel Gilbert of Roanoke, VA and Staff Sgt. Thomas Burton stationed with the US Army in Iraq. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, April 21, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, April 22, 2005, at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. William Skeldon and Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill.
