Sona Sparks Watkins

Sona Lee Sparks Watkins, 79, of Schererville, formerly of Lively, W.Va., died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at her home. Born January 20, 1931, at Pax, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Gertrude S. Williams Sparks. Sona attended the Weirwood Community Church and was a retired government secretary. Her husband, George C. Watkins Jr., and brother, George W. Sparks Jr., preceded her in death. Survivors include sisters, Jean Long of Schererville, Ind., and Yvonne Absher of Schererville, Ind., and brother, James F. Sparks of White Oak. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a special great-niece and nephew, Abigail and Lucas Williams who will miss her dearly and all the time they spent playing together. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope, with Rev. Tom Lilly officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
