Shirley Ann Blake Cochran, 87, of Beckley passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born January 22, 1935, in Sun, WV she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Gladys Lawson Blake.
Shirley was a 1952 graduate from Mount Hope High School where she was a proud cheerleader. "She was proud to be a Mustang"; she loved her school and the town of Mount Hope. She worked 2 years at the Mount Hope Theater, C & P Telephone Company for 8 years, and at Murphy's Mart for 20 years. Shirley was a proud Military wife while raising her children, a loyal member of the Mount Hope First Church of God, she enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren, but most of all she loved being surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Leslie Cochran; daughter, Denise Cochran; brother, Jim Blake; and sisters, Helen Davis and June Eans.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, Cynthia Billo (Russ) and Dennis “DJ” Cochran; grandchildren, Leslie Anne Sullivan (Ken Stevens), Russell Billo (Leah) and Mikayla Cochran; great grandchildren, Amelia Sullivan, Corban Billo, Iris Billo, and Princeton Stevens; and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 1, 2022, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastors Benny Munsey and Russell Billo officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home in Mount Hope.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations of sympathy be made to the Hope House Foundation 801 Boush St. STE. 302 Norfolk VA, 23324 and to the Bowers Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley WV, 25801.
