Sharon Ann Rogers Armentrout

June 19, 1937 — January 24, 2015

Sharon Ann Armentrout was born in Mt. Hope, West Virginia on June 19, 1937 to Rufus and Armilla Rogers and she entered Heaven’s Gates on January 24, 2015.

Sharon graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954. She pursued her nursing degree at Bluefield State University and worked as an RN at Appalachian Regional Hospital. She also had a passion for antiques and worked with her daughters at Red Dog Antiques in Fayetteville and Bradley. She then worked alongside the love of her life, Edsel, as they owned and operated Eddie’s Market in Bradley. Their 59 years of marriage were her most cherished moments in life. They had a love affair to surpass any fairy tale, making each other whole. She is most remembered for her love of her family and the Lord as a member of Bradley First Baptist Church and currently attending Little Wolf Creek Baptist Church. She was the matriarch of her family and instilled the values of Christianity, hard work, dedication and a strong moral compass.

Sharon was preceded in death by her Father and Mother Rufus and Armilla Rogers as well as two of her brothers, Jonny Rogers and Michael Rogers. Sharon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edsel Armentrout; her children Karen Ivey, Roger Armentrout and Deborah Jackson and husband Mike Jackson of Bradley, WV; her six grandchildren, Sarah Whitehurst and husband Ian Whitehurst of Wake Forest, NC, Josh Profffitt and wife Becky Proffitt, Zach Armentrout, Kate Armentrout, Taz Armentrout and Ben Jackson of Beckley, WV; her two great-grandchildren Ethan and Audrey Whitehurst. She is also survived by her brothers David Rogers and his wife Dawn Rogers of North Carolina, Joey Rogers of Deleware and Tommy Rogers of and wife Lynn Rogers of Florida.

The family will receive family and friends on January 27, 2015 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Tyree Funeral Home in Mt. Hope. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00PM immediately following the visitation officiated by Preacher Eddie Harris. Graveside service will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Garden.
