Sharon Ann Bowyer Fortney

Sharon Ann Bowyer Fortney , 67, of Hyattsville, MD formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at her home. Born October 12, 1946 at Oak Hill, WV she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Marcie Alettia Amick Bowyer. Sharon was retired from U.S. Naval Yard in Washington, D.C. after 40 years service as an Administrator of Personnel. She was a humanitarian who worked with many children in WV Medical and families from all over, helping them in their time of need. After retiring, Sharon found a new hobby - gardening and taking care of her yard. Survivors include sisters, Shelia K. Bowyer Natale of Burtonsville, MD, Martha S. Bowyer Siliris of Charleston, SC and Marsha Bowyer Moore Oak Hill; and brother, Matthew G. Bowyer of Mount Hope. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Susan Wakefield, Timmothy Ramsey, Brittani Smith, Travis McCoy; great nieces and nephews, Robert England, Kaylea England, Jace Ramsey, and T.J. Ramsey and one great-great nephew, Tanner England. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Pat Franklin officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
