Sharlene Prather

Sharlene Prather, 89, of Interlachen, Florida passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital in Orange Park, Florida.

Sharlene was born in Oak Hill, West Virginia and had lived in Interlachen since 1986. She was a homemaker and loved to crochet and sew clothes. Her laugh was contagious and she was always so good at playing Monopoly. When she baked or cooked, there was always a high chance of burning it, but no one could ever beat her homemade cheesecake. She was a member of Interlachen Church of God and she loved her family and her church…it was all she ever talked about. She was the greatest mother and grandmother you could ask for. She always came over to help to decorate for Christmas and put “ointments” (ornaments) on the tree. We will miss her so much.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marlin Rudy Rose; mother, Margaret Elizabeth Shrewsbury Rose; husband, Kenneth Franklin Prather; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elcie French, Dorothy Roberts and John Roberts, Patricia Shymansky and Edward Shymansky, Eleanor Yost, and Darrell McClung; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Rudy Rose and Christine Rose, Arnold Rose and Shine Rose, Hobert Lee Rose and Ruthann Rose, Delano Rose and Cherry Rose.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol A. Trevarthen of Hollister, FL; a son, Addison Lee Horton, Jr. (Beverly) of Beckley, WV; six grandchildren, Adam Horton, Gloria Beth Davis (Mike), Cheryl Vanscoy (Ryan), Kenneth Trevarthen (Sara), Justin Trevarthen, and Cassidy Trevarthen; ten great grandchildren, Emily Rose Horton, Noah Lee Horton, Whitney Denise Kelly, Kirsten Paige Horton, Alexander Storm Donath, Katelyn Marie Donath, Tabitha Newton (William), Ciara Autumn Sunshine Mundy, Nolan James Trevarthen, and Miles Clark Trevarthen; and five great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2024 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope. 

Graveside service and burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
