Sally Perry Davis

Sally Perry Davis, 91, of Athens, Georgia formerly of Mount Hope passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at her home in Talmage Terrace, Athens, Georgia following a short illness. Born September 2, 1915 at Mount Hope, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Theodoshia White Perry. While living in Mount Hope, she was an active member of the Mount Hope Christian Church where she was baptized at the age of 12, the Women's Christian Fellowship and the Araminta Philathea Class and a member of the Winolia Chapter No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Hope. She had been a resident of Athens, Georgia since 1979 where she was a member of Campus View Church of Christ. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Nelson Davis in 1986; seven brothers, Lewis, Harold, Ernest, Ronald, Roy, Norvell and Ray Perry; five sisters, Lora Perry, Carrie Smith, Ruth Collins, Mabel Abshire and Maudine Batten. Survivors include one son, Rodney Davis and his wife, Joyce of Athens, Georgia; three grandchildren, Debra Strickland, Dr. Charles N. Davis and Carrie Pasquale; seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gladys Perry Snyder and Mary Perry, both of Mount Hope, Edith Gibson of New Bern, NC, and Beulah Wright of Roanoke, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Service will be 1:00 PM Friday at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Athens West Chapel, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road, Bogart, GA with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum, Athens, Georgia.
