Ruth Myrtle Barr Hyden of Hurricane, WV formerly of Sophia, WV went to Heaven on her 92nd birthday, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.
Born May 12, 1924 at Big Stick, WV she was the daughter of the late Reed and Lockie Anne Eller Barr.
She was a retired cook for the Holiday Inn Resturant.
Ruth was a member of the Baptist faith.
Her loving husband of 57 years Basil W. Hyden preceded her in death on on January 6, 2000. She was also preceded by brothers, Archie, Darrell and James Barr; sisters, Alma Barr, Thelma Strem, Delta Poe and Mary Crutchfield; and daughter-in-law, Nila Hyden.
Survivors include sons, Larry E. Hyden of Beckley and Donald Ray Hyden of Fayetteville, NC; daughters, Diana Lou Adkins and husband, Ralph, of Hurricane with whom she made her home and Mary Elizabeth Whittington and husband, Larry, of Red House; fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and her special dog, Sissy, her guardian angel.
Her family will have a private service.
