Ruth Janese Easton, 91, formerly of Woods Avenue, Oak Hill, died Saturday, April 4, at Snyder's Nursing Home, Salem, VA.
Born May 5, 1923, in Minden, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Andrew E. and Agnes Lambie Easton.
She had lived in Minden, Beckley and Oak Hill, all her life until moving near family in Roanoke, VA in 2011.
Ruth attended school in Fayette County where she was taught by two of her sisters. She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School (Class of 1942) and the Charleston School of Commerce. She helped organize a Business and Professional Women's Club in Oak Hill and served as an officer of the club over several years and was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, serving in several positions.
She retired as a medical secretary, having worked for several prominent doctor's practices.
Ruth was a former member of Beckley Presbyterian Church and later the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew Easton, Oak Hill, Robert Easton, Frankfort, KY, and Alexander Easton, Oak Hill; four sisters, Elizabeth Thompson, Oak Hill, Nettie Bragg, Oak Hill, Kate Bobbitt, Vero Beach, FL, and Agnes Nelson, Roanoke, VA.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great, and great-great, nieces and nephews.
Graveside rites and committal service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oak Hill with Pastor Nancy Martin officiating. Burial will follow.
There will be a visitation at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, from 12:45PM to 1:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church 250 Central Avenue, Oak Hill WV 25901.
