Ruby Mae Hicks Johnson, 97, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at home in Oak Hill, WV. Born November 12, 1911 at Cabell County, WV she was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Ida Conner Hicks. She was a homemaker. Ruby was active for many years in the Oak Hill and Fayetteville Baptist churches and at the time of her death was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill. Gardening was her passion. She was an original member of the Redbud Garden Club with whom she was very active, working the club projects while maintaining her own lovely gardens. She was also a member of the CEOS and former member of the Homemaker's Club. Mrs. Johnson's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mary Epperly, Rose O'Dell and Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their wonderful care. Her husband of 58 years, Otis Johnson; two brothers, Dorsey Hicks and F.M. Hicks and a sister, Garnet Bias preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Ryan and Connie Mealhouse both of Oak Hill; two grandchildren, Shana Ryan of Chicago, IL and Colin Ryan of Tucson, AZ and a great grandson, Caelan Ryan of Tucson. Services will be on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at Forest Memorial Park, Milton WV.
