Roy E. Treadway, Sr.

Roy "Red" Edward Treadway Sr., 78, of Mount Hope, WV died on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at his home following a long illness. Born September 14, 1926 at Augusta Springs, VA he was the son of the late Roy E. and Eddie Frances Sprouse Treadway. He was a retired coal miner having last worked for Royal Coal Company at Layland, WV. Mr. Treadway attended the First Church of God, Mount Hope, WV. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Nadine Craigo Treadway; son, Ronald F. Treadway; brothers, George and Albert Ray Treadway; sisters, Annie Comer, Mary Ombler and Elsie Hogan. Survivors include sons, Roy E. Treadway, Jr., Dennis W. Treadway and David Lee Treadway all of Mount Hope, George Treadway of Sweetwater, TN and Thomas D. Treadway of Ladson, SC; daughters, Elizabeth Carter of Sophia and Alice Davis of Sweetwater, TN; brothers, Robert Treadway of Minden, Vernie Lee Treadway of Texas and Cecil Treadway of Beckley; sisters, Francis Griffith of Bradley, Miss Eddie Jean Matthews of Princeton and Daisey Bogle of Ohio; and by 20 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at First Church of God, Mount Hope, WV on Wednesday, January 19, 2005, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at 2:00 pm at First Church of God in Mount Hope with Rev. Ronnie Stapleton officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV.
