Roy Edward Bailey, 60, of Hubert, N.C., formerly of Long Branch, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007, of a sudden illness. Born June 19, 1947, at Bee Branch, WV he was the son of Susie Weaver Bailey of Scarbro, WV formerly of Long Branch, WV and the late Corbit W. Bailey. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Smith. Roy was a 1966 graduate of Mount Hope High School, Mount Hope. He retired in 1987 with 20 years of service in the U.S. Army. He had received the highest appointment of the International Moose Lodge as Deputy Supreme Governor of the State of North Carolina in 2007. He was loving, caring, and devoted to family and friends everywhere. He never met a stranger. In addition to his mother, he will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 29 years, Donna Smith Bailey; mother-in-law, Lillian Smith, both of Hubert, N.C.; two sons, Michael Bailey of North Carolina and Roy Bailey of California; three daughters, Lynne (Nick) Wheeland of North Carolina, Nancy (Stuart) Tenggren, and Connie (Andrew) Spielberger, all of California; a grandson whom he adored, Bailey Wheeland of North Carolina; four granddaughters, Kass Wheeland of North Carolina, and Chloe, Ellia, and Ava Tenggren, all of California; three brothers, Clyde (Cleo) Bailey of Princewick, William (Paula) Bailey of Mount Hope, and Tracy (Ruby) Bailey of Gloucester, Va.; two sisters, Patricia (Mickey) Bailey of Clear Creek and Gracie (Bobby) Holley of Pax; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A Celebration Tribute of his life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 5 p.m. at the Swansboro Moose Lodge #1425, 161 Norris Road, Swansboro, NC 28584.
