Rosie Ellen Ballard Bragg, 99, went to be with the Lord on the beautiful, sunny morning of October 9, 2010. She was at the home of her daughter in Mossy, WV. Born on September 23, 1911, at Harvey, WV, Rosie was the daughter of the late George and Minnie Weikle Ballard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clarence E. Bragg of DeWitt, and her brother Richard Ballard. Rosie attended Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill. She was a homemaker who loved to can, work in her flower garden, and visit with friends. She loved coffee, chewing gum, and ice cream. She met everyone with a smile, and she brought joy to her family and friends. She never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by many people. Survivors include her children, Bettie Wriston of Mossy, June Davis of Thurmond Road, Shirley Gibson of Gatewood, Eddie Bragg of Thurmond Road; one sister, Daisy Taylor of Lochgelly. Her ten grandchildren include Lee Wriston, Sharon Cook, Ricky Davis, Judy Persinger, Larry Vassil, Sandy Vassil, Hackney Gibson, Keith Bragg, Patrick Bragg, and Steven Bragg. She had eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25801. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with the Rev. David Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010. Family will serve as pallbearers.
