Rose Pawlus

Rose Frances Zandlo Pawlus, 91, of Scarbro, WV departed this life on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Hidden Valley Healthcare Center in Oak Hill, WV following a short illness. Born September 24, 1914 at Oswald, WV she was the daughter of the late Joseph "Joe" and Agnes Barbara Vetak Zandlo. She was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, WV. Rose was a retired sales clerk having worked for Mahoney's Grocery Store and Cook Department Store. A son, John "Sonny" Pawlus, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Carol Pawlus preceded her in death. As the last surviving member of her immediate family she was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Zandlo and six sisters, Mary Wise, Annie Wise, Millie Sulesky, Frances Christian, Leona Harmon and Helen Crouch. Survivors include Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, John Edward Pawlus, Sr.; one son, Steve Pawlus and wife, Rita, of Scarbor, WV; six grandchildren, Sandy Pawlus, Cynthia Dorman, Cherrie Thomas, Lisa Anderson, Brian Pawlus and Greg Pawlus; seven great grandchildren, Amber Dorman, Ginny Dorman, Hannah Thomas, John Thomas, Ray Pawlus, Shyanne Pawlus and Hunter Anderson and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Sunday, January 15, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM with Prayer Vigil at 8:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father Xavier Cooney S.V.D. officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
