Rose Mary Meredith Painter

July 27, 1943 — December 6, 2012

Rose Mary Meredith Painter , 69, of Pax, WV went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 06, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 27, 1943 at Westerly, WV she was the daughter of the late Russell and Rachel Williams Meredith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Bucky and Clarence Meredith. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Claude, her daughters Sheila Johnson and husband, Glenn, and Becky Holley and husband, Doug and son, Danny Painter and wife, Angie, grandsons, Josh Johnson and wife, Amy, Jeremiah Johnson, Kristopher Holley and Tyler Painter, granddaughter, Autumn Sturgill and husband, Josh, and two great grandsons, Matthew and Noah Johnson all of Pax. Her sister, Ann Thomas of Cirtsville, brothers, Henry Meredith and wife, Barbara, Joe Meredith and wife Debbie all of Pax and Chester Meredith and wife, Glyda of Greensboro, NC, sister-in-law, Jane Wingrove and husband, Robert of Dothan and many nieces, nephews and special friends also survive. Rose Mary spent her life finding good in everyone. Her career was raising her family and taking care of her home. She also worked as a child care/day care specialist at Enchanted Bridge Day Care and finished her working career at Buck's Store. She was the Chairwoman of the Pax Community Event Committee which plans and hosts events that focus on community members, especially children. She loved her community, the people in it and was an avid worker and fundraiser to help others. Christmas being her favorite time of the year, she was most proud of the Nativity Scene that joined in the decorations at the Humphrey Park this year which was made possible by the generous donations she raised from community members. She encouraged all she spoke with to go by and see it and to reflect on its meaning. Mrs. Painter attended Mabscott Christian Baptist church. Through all of her illness and its trials she never complained or questioned why she had this challenge, she only wanted to be used in whatever way God could get the glory. Her strongest desire was that her loved ones (and that included her community members) who were not saved would come to know the Lord as their Savior so they could join her in heaven some day. There are so many people that came into her life during this trial that she immediately loved. A special thank you to Dr. Khanna, Dr. El-Harake, Dr. Shimm and the entire staff at the Raleigh regional Cancer Center for believing in her strength, courage and determination and for giving her the opportunity to take on this challenge. She loved you all and believed in and trusted you. Thank you! "Granny taught us to find the good in every situation. She was beautiful, we loved her and she loved us. She was our best friend." Funeral services will be on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with her Pastor and friend Harmon Davis officiating assisted by her son-in-law, Pastor Doug Holley.
