Ronald Ray "Rondal" Shifflett

July 24, 1940 — July 17, 2013

Ronald Ray “Rondal” Shifflett, formerly of Oak Hill, WV died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home in Cornell, Wis. Born in Kingston, WV on July 24, 1940 he was the son of the late Raymond and Thelma (Coleman) Shifflett. After attending school in Oak Hill, Ron enlisted in the US Navy when he was 19. He spent time on the west coast, overseas and the was stationed at Patauxent River, MD. While on the skydiving team he met and married Carol Staudacher. They later divorced. Ron enrolled in the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1968. Throughout his career with the State Police he spent time with the drug task force and working different cases as an undercover agent. The stories that Ron would tell and the accomplishments throughout his career show the pride he took in his work. In 2006 he moved to Wisconsin to live with his daughter due to Alzheimer's. To the very end, Ron never lost a certain personality trait: you never knew what kind of prank Ron was going to pull. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an ex wife and one grandson. Surviving are his daughters, Karen (Joel) Craker of Luck, WI., and Donna Shifflett (Bob Kendall) of Cornell, WI.; sister, Nancy Plunkett of Slaughterville, OK; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, his ex-wife and numerous other family members. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV with Chaplain Jim Mitchell of the WV State Police officiating.
