Ronald Ray Perry

August 2, 1957 — November 10, 2015

Ronald Ray "Ronnie" Perry , 58, of Mount Hope, WV died on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his home .

Born August 02, 1957 at Beckley, WV he was the son of the late Ray Charles and Mary Frances Stone Perry.

Ronnie was dedicated employee of Tyree Funeral Home, Inc. of Oak Hill and Mount Hope for nearly 40 years. With the heart of a servant he ministered to the needs of his community with dignity and compassion.

A 1975 graduate of Mount Hope High School and he also attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston and Beckley College.

He was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church, MacDonald-Warren Lodge No. 103 A.F. and A.M. and Winolia Chapter No. 59 O.E.S.

To say Ronnie loved Mount Hope is an understatement. He was deeply interested in the local history - collecting pictures and stories which he readily shared. If anyone wanted to know something about Mount Hope's past the answer was usually "Ask Ronnie, he'll know." He was in his element at Mount Hope Jubilee time.

A Mount Hope Mustang through and through, he loved his school and his schoolmates. He was an active participant in the "Prom" reunion always looking forward to it with much anticipation. Due to his failing health he was unable to attend his 40th Class Reunion this fall so his classmates brought the reunion to him.

Genealogy was a passion to Ronnie Perry. He felt a deep connection to his roots and spent many happy hours again collecting pictures, stories and family history. This need to know kinship spilled over into his love of the people of Mount Hope. He could tell you who was related to whom, who their grandparents were, where they lived and probably had a picture of them somewhere in his vast collection.

And then there was his music. If you knew Ronnie you knew how music fed his soul. With a musician's heart he sang it, he played it and even on his last day here he listened to it and let it minister to his need.

Those left to cherish his memory include aunts, Pat Renfro of Maple Fork, Freda Lee Cincinnati of Boomer and Gladys Perry of Mount Hope; uncles, Jack Stone of Holden and Jim Stone of Bluefield; as well as numerous cousins; and a multitude of friends
